SofTech Introduces New CADRA 2002PLUS Release

CADRA® 2002PLUS Advances Features and Functionality to Streamline Design

TEWKSBURY, Mass., December 12, 2002 — SofTech, Inc. (OTCBB: SOFT), a leading provider of design-through-manufacturing solutions, announced the availability of a new release of its CADRA® 2 ½D true wireframe mechanical design and drafting software, CADRA® 2002PLUS. This new release focuses on ways to improve customer design processes with new features and added functionality to simplify the design of mechanical parts, products, and machinery.

A new CADRA file viewer, CADRA® ViewExpress, is introduced with this release and now available as a free download over the Web at www.softech.com. CADRA ViewExpress allows reading and display, zooming/panning, plotting, layer toggling, and several other operations on CADRA files for quick viewing. CADRA ViewExpress can be used as a standalone program or within Microsoft® Internet Explorer without the need for a CADRA license. CADRA ViewExpress is very useful for sharing CADRA files to extend design reach beyond engineering to other organizations or design/manufacturing partners that do not have direct access to CADRA 2002PLUS.

In addition, the new CADRA 2002PLUS release includes these additional new timesaving features for developing, plotting, and outputting CADRA files:

  • Multiple Undo/Redo Operations — A new multiple Undo/Redo operation has been introduced that allows multiple undos and or redos of most operations within a single file edit session to protect your design intent.

  • AutoCAD® File Read and Write Enhancements — It is now possible in CADRA 2002PLUS to save CADRA files in AutoCAD® version 12, 14, 2000, and 2002 formats, with output conversion support to translate CADRA features to their closest proximity in AutoCAD, including, for example, crosshatch patterns, tolerance entities, multi-line text in labels, lightweight polylines, splines, arrowhead styles and fonts.

  • Increased Figure Support — The file limitation for number of figures that can be read into CADRA 2002PLUS has been extended from 1,000 to 32,000 to support more complex drawings.

  • Compressed CADRA Files — A CADRA database can now be saved in a compressed file format utilizing the Save As dialog to reduce system memory consumption.

  • Output of PDF Plot Files — The Adobe® portable document format (PDF) is now supported as a CADRA plot output format, easily selectable from a pull-down menu from the Plot dialog, for added plotting flexibility.

  • Overlays Displayable with Entity Colors — A new option has been added to allow users to display overlays using entity colors rather than overlay colors for clearer representations.

  • Backup File Parameterization – The name of a backup file can now be specified to include elements that make it more unique and identifiable.
